Research Methods International
Purpose:
Research Methods International conducted an endline survey to assess the performance, results, and sustainability of the Amplifying Drug and Substance Abuse Linkages to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Mental Health in Zimbabwe project. The evaluation measured changes in knowledge, attitudes, behaviours, and service uptake among adolescents, young people, and caregivers, and assessed the extent to which the project strengthened linkages between drug and substance use (DSU), SRHR, GBV, and mental health services.
The endline aimed to determine whether the intervention achieved its intended objectives and to generate evidence for accountability, learning, and future programme design.
Methodology:
A mixed-methods evaluation design was applied, combining quantitative household surveys with youth (15–40 years) and parents/caregivers, qualitative focus group discussions, and key informant interviews with community leaders, service providers, and implementing partners. The evaluation applied OECD-DAC criteria (relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability) and conducted a rigorous baseline–endline comparison across key indicators in Mabvuku/Tafara and Glen View/Budiriro districts in Harare.
Status:
Completed. The final endline evaluation report was delivered in 2025, demonstrating significant improvements in awareness, attitudes, help-seeking behaviour, and integration of DSU, SRHR, and mental health services, and providing actionable recommendations for scale-up and sustainability.
