Research Methods International

RMI provides a wide range of services including national census, survey management, real time data collection, evidence based research, monitoring and evaluation and project management.

We use modern methodologies of data collection for online and field work surveys, census, trainings and research. Our team had experience of using Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI), Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI), Telephone and Personal Interviews.

Data Collection & Survey Management Tools

Data collection is the process of gathering and measuring information on variables of interest, in an established systematic fashion that enables one to answer stated research questions, test hypotheses, and evaluate outcomes. There are several methods of data collection.

Quantitative Data

Using quantitative research techniques or methods, we collect primary data through CAPI, CATI and CAWI powered survey questionnaires. We believe in evidence based research through the use of technology for efficiency and accuracy. A scoring technique is applied for producing especially indicator scores. The questionnaires are designed in English and then translated in local languages where necessary for the assessment. We use different data collection platforms such as KoBo Collect, ODK, Survey Solutions, Survey ToGo, Survey CTO, Tangerine and Survey Monkey. The data will be near to real time and GPS coordinates are collected to show the sample distribution and also to avoid cheating by data collectors. We have experience of conducting Census, Surveys, Polls and KAP.

Secondary data is collected from existing online and physical documents to understand the background of the projects.

QUALITATIVE DATA

Through participatory research methods, we collect data using Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions, Observations, Case studies and Photos. A back up mechanism that we use is voice recording and note taking during interviews and discussions.
